Mega Millions jackpot: $743 million

The Mega Millions jackpot is $743 million (cash value $323.4 million) for the next drawing on Fri, Jul 24 at 11:00 PM ET.

Jackpot as of Jul 22, 12:59 PM ET.

Why the Mega Millions jackpot is this big

Nobody has matched all six numbers since March 17, 2026, when $60 million was won in Ohio. Each drawing since has added to the prize, which is why it now stands at $743 million.

36 drawings have passed since then (Mega Millions draws Tuesday & Friday). After a win the jackpot resets to $50 million.

A longer roll means a bigger prize — not a better chance

This is the part worth being precise about, because it is the most common misunderstanding in the lottery. A long run without a winner tells you the prize has grown. It tells you nothing whatsoever about tonight. The odds are 1 in 290,472,336, and they were exactly that on the day the last jackpot was won, and they will be exactly that on the day the next one is. They do not drift, warm up, or come due.

Powerball is the clearest example. It was won on April 29, 2026, reset to its $20 million minimum, and was then won again three days later, on May 2, 2026 — at that minimum. A jackpot cannot be less "overdue" than one that has just been won, and it was hit anyway. Draws have no memory of each other.

The one thing a big jackpot genuinely changes: more tickets get sold, so the chance that somebody wins goes up — and so does the chance that a winner has to share it.
